Leicester Mercury: New row over resting place


The University of Leicester has been accused of backtracking on an agreement to house Richard III's remains at a Catholic site until they are reinterred.

Members of the Looking For Richard team, which was set up by Philippa Langley – the driving force behind the search – claim the university agreed to release the remains once scientific testing had finished.

Dr John Ashdown-Hill, genealogist with the Looking For Richard team, said a document completed before any archaeological excavation had begun stated the bones would be placed in a "prayerful environment" until they were reburied.
